Northwest Water Services was founded in March 2025 with a commitment to delivering dependable, high-quality exterior cleaning services to our community.
Our owner, Bret Ames, brings a strong work ethic and diverse professional background to the company. Prior to entering the exterior services industry, Bret spent many years as a year-round commercial fisherman, working across Alaska, Washington, and Oregon fisheries. His experience included participation in multiple fisheries along the West Coast, including the Washington and Oregon Dungeness crab fisheries. His experience included harvesting a wide range of species, including Black Cod, Halibut, Salmon (all species), Shrimp and Prawns, Red and Green Sea Urchins, Sea Cucumbers, Rockfish, and several species of flatfish. He also actively participated in the Washington and Oregon coastal Dungeness crab fisheries. After sustaining a back injury during his fifth winter crabbing season—and with a growing family and three children at home—Bret made the decision to transition away from full-time commercial fishing. This shift allowed him to pursue work that provided greater long-term stability while continuing to apply the discipline, resilience, and attention to detail developed during years at sea.
Today, Bret remains active in the local sea urchin fishery and is a Washington State–licensed fish buyer. He also works in construction seasonally, further strengthening his hands-on experience with building materials, structural systems, and property maintenance.
Northwest Water Services was established to provide a professional, reliable service between construction seasons while meeting a growing demand for quality exterior cleaning. Bret brings over four years of pressure washing experience in Alaska and Washington State, with prior work including residential, commercial, and industrial properties. His portfolio includes projects for Coastal Apartments LLC, Dakota Creek Industries, and Southeast Water Services.

Oregon Coast Crab 2018
The Oregon Coast Dungeness crab fishery is widely recognized for its demanding conditions and intense work schedules. During one season aboard the F/V St. Zita, where Bret served as a crew member, the crew worked continuous shifts of up to 44 hours at peak periods. The opening weeks of the season are critical and often determine the overall success of the fishery.
This experience reflects Bret’s strong work ethic, resilience, and commitment to performing at the highest level under challenging conditions. He brings that same dedication, discipline, and attention to detail to every pressure washing project, delivering reliable, professional results for each client.
Purse-Seining 2017
The summer of 2017 was a formative and memorable season in Bret’s commercial fishing career. His extensive experience across West Coast fisheries has provided him with a deep understanding of the industry, along with many firsthand insights gained on the water. These experiences continue to shape his strong work ethic and are stories he enjoys sharing with his family.
